Born in Richmond and raised in the mountains of Virginia, Allen moved to North Carolina with his family when he was in middle school. Other than a brief period spent living in Wyoming, he has called NC’s Triangle region home ever since.

Allen's passion for web technologies led him to a career as a web developer. Allen began working with Drupal in 2007, and carries a wealth of knowledge when it comes to developing for the popular CMS.

During the course of his involvement with the Drupal community, he has helped maintain several contributed modules and organized the local Triangle Drupal User's Group. He was also one of the senior developers working on the Springboard Drupal distribution, which combines online fundraising, email marketing, advocacy, and social media integration tailored to the needs of nonprofits.

His work responsibilities include gathering client requirements to develop feature specifications, assisting with planning projects to define scope of work for new client initiatives, providing ongoing developer support, client training, and consulting services. When asked if there was anything else he said, “I also occasionally write a little code”.

Allen is an avid whitewater kayaker and is closely involved with the paddling community in the Southeast. He is currently the Safety Chair of the Carolina Canoe Club and is an American Canoe Association certified whitewater kayaking instructor. When not at work or caring for his family, he can be found navigating class IV whitewater somewhere in the Southeast.
