Insider’s guide to Raleigh’s Digital Marketing for Business Conference

Woman at conference tableJust in its third year, the Digital Marketing for Business Conference has grown to become a “marketing solutions movement” here in the Triangle.

Conference organizers started the event as a place for marketing knowledge sharing — without a budget-busting price tag or tiring day of travel.

DMFB is one of our picks for seriously great NC conferences for communicators, creatives and techies.

2015 Conference overview:

  • Date: Main conference May 13-14, 2015
  • Optional preconference workshop May 12
  • Location: Raleigh Convention Center
  • 84 informative sessions for business owners, marketing managers, consultants, and WordPress developers and designers

Who Should Attend?

DMFB taps local and national marketing talent to present on a range of topics. Previous talks have covered paid and organic search, content creation, audience personas, survey tools, and lots more.

Past attendees have represented the B2B, B2C and nonprofit sectors. I would encourage communicators from any field to attend. Entry-to-mid level communicators will take home plenty of actionable approaches, and seasoned pros will find fresh ideas.

Additionally, DMFB is a great place to connect with other marketers and share tips for marketing success (last year, an incredibly helpful attendee fully guided me through how to audit a company blog).

The level of expertise from the speakers — let alone the attendees — is impressive.

Why You Should Attend

DMFB features more than 80 sessions over the course of two days, plus a one day preconference WordPress bootcamp.

Sessions are organized by the following tracks:

Small business: For business owners and managers who have a direct role in marketing. Sessions share types of marketing, ideas for marketing opportunities, and typical results.

Enterprise: For marketing professionals seeking new marketing solutions to better connect with audiences. Sessions cover best practices and news trends to adopt into existing strategy.

Expert: For consultants on the hunt for cost- and time-effective solutions for their clients. Sessions cover new tools and efficient approaches for implementation.

Video: For videographers, multimedia producers, and video marketers seeking new production and marketing ideas. Topics include production methods and tools, opportunities to market with video, and case studies of successful multimedia marketing.

WordPress: Aside from the preconference WordPress workshop, DMFB also features a track for developers and designers. Sessions explore topics such as APIs and integrations, theme customization, security and eCommerce, as well as less-technical topics for marketing teams.

Workshop: For attendees seeking training and demonstrations. Sessions vary in topic.

Attendees also have the opportunity to network during various planned events, and meet vendors exhibiting at DMFB. The lively exhibitor hall is full of games, goodies and big giveaways.

What Will You Learn?

Take a peek at the awesome list of DMFB sessions. You’ll see DesignHammer’s David and Stephen on the schedule — twice!

David and Stephen will present a session on accessibility for business websites at the conference. Join us to learn why accessibility is a good idea for business websites — and how mistakes can cause serious legal headaches.

They will also host a hands-on workshop on website planning and the RFP process, with plenty of shared insight “from the trenches.”
