The 2014 Nonprofit Technology Conference is fast approaching, and DesignHammer is buzzing with excitement.
As our first time attending, we're looking forward to meeting nonprofit innovators from all over. In addition to attending and speaking at the main conference, we're part of the pre-conference activity Drupal Day.
This event, NTC Drupal Day for Nonprofit IT Professionals, is a free day of speakers, breakout sessions and hands-on training for Drupal users of all levels. Drupal Day will take place March 12, with registration and check-in beginning 8:30 am, followed by speakers and breakout/training sessions until 4 pm.
DesignHammer is a proud sponsor of this event and will host a breakout session on Search Engine Optimization with Drupal 6 and 7. David Minton and Stephen Pashby will share their combined 15+ years of experience on the what, why and how-to of SEO.
I caught up with Stephen, DesignHammer account manager, on what attendees can expect to learn from the session.
Why is this talk on SEO important?
Anyone who wants their website to be found through search engines should understand how SEO works. To best do that, it helps to learn how to think like a search engine when creating content for websites. Understanding how search engines think also helps to successfully build and configure websites for search success.
How long have you and David worked with clients on SEO?
I have been providing SEO consulting to our clients since joining DesignHammer in 2011. I also have completed Google Analytics IQ Certification.
David has been providing SEO consulting for DesignHammer clients since founding DesignHammer in 2001.
What will be covered in the Drupal Day session?
We will cover the nuts and bolts of how SEO works, detail our philosophy of SEO, and provide a survey of several popular Drupal modules to allow Drupal administrators and content creators to optimize their sites.
Is this session intended for a specific skill level of Drupal users?
We’ll cover a variety of useful material about SEO and Drupal that will be useful to a range of skill levels.
While not very technical, in the past Drupal developers, site builders, administrators, and content creators have found this session useful. Entirely non-technical users will find the overview of SEO and philosophy useful in understanding how SEO works and why it is important.
What are the key takeaways from the session?
1. Understanding how a search engine will interact with their website.
2. Knowledge of which Drupal modules should be installed and configured on their Drupal website to support SEO efforts.
What are you looking forward to most about Drupal Day?
Interacting with people who are using Drupal to make great websites for great organizations.
What are you looking forward to most about the main conference, NTC?
Meeting with people from non-profit organizations that are making an impact, and learning how the DesignHammer team might be a good fit to bring their message more effectively to a larger audience.
