DesignHammer Receives Top Marks On FMI Website

Durham, NC – A recent website execution by Durham based DesignHammer Media Group LLC has received excellent marks by business consultants, The Greenway Group, in a comprehensive business evaluation. The top-rated project is the FMI company site, which was re-launched earlier this year after a large-scale redesign. Following the re-launch, leadership at FMI hired The Greenway Group, a strategy-consulting firm for the design and construction industry, to perform an evaluation that included review of the company’s web presence.

The FMI company site, www.fminet.com, received high marks for “Cover Impact” and “Interior Impact”, scoring 91.3% and 88.4% respectively. While not design industry terms, cover impact and interior impact are used in this instance to describe the quality of the homepage and subsequent pages of the website from the perspective of the target audience. The results have earned the website “best of class” status on the consulting company’s proprietary design impact rating system.

DesignHammer’s projects have received much praise in the past from industry partners and clients for the quality of work that has been produced. In discussing his vision for what makes good web design, Partner and Lead Designer, Frank Yonnetti identified several considerations in the company’s process. Initially, information is gathered from clients such as the company identity and message they wish to communicate to their target audience. The designers then utilize this information and begin to format the design with great attention paid to usability. Yonnetti stated, “In designing websites, usability is a top consideration. There is a certain way to align elements on a webpage to make them more intuitive so the viewer of the website doesn’t have to think too hard or spend time searching for what they are looking for. We also are really cognizant of what industry the client is in and who their audience is. An effect on a website may seem really entertaining and fun to someone, but if it isn’t relating to the target audience of that website, it can become annoying and counterproductive to the business’ communication goal.”

DesignHammer has been a Durham, NC operation since 2001, concentrating on providing services to clients throughout the Triangle in a broad range of industries. Founded by David Minton, Frank Yonnetti and Robert Weeks, the company has built its reputation on providing high quality design, value and client oriented service.
