State Educators Register Online with the Help of DesignHammer

DesignHammer Media Group, LLC today deployed an online registration system and resource guide for the annual North Carolina Career-Technical Education Summer Conference, on behalf of the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.

The new system will allow CTE consultants at NCDPI to process and manage registration more efficiently than with paper-based registration systems used for past conferences. Between two and three thousand teachers are expected to attend the 2003 statewide conference, July 21–25 at the Sheraton Greensboro Hotel at Four Seasons, Greensboro.

Career-Technical Education is one of the eleven Curriculum Areas in the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. In North Carolina, CTE is organized in grades 6–12 in the public school system. The program begins with exploratory courses and leads to specialized classroom instruction in grades 11 and 12.

In 2000-2001, nearly 700,000 students in grades 6-12 were enrolled in CTE courses. These courses were taught by over 5,300 teachers and with the assistance of over 530 support personnel in special populations and career development. Sixty-six percent of all students enrolled in grades 9-12 took at least one CTE course.
