DesignHammer at BarCampRDU 2008
On Saturday, August 2, 2008, Red Hat hosted the third annual BarCampRDU conference, with DesignHammer providing sponsorship, as well as lending Managing Partner David Minton to host one of the conference’s dozens of participant led sessions.
According to the conference website, “a Bar Camp is an unconference where…rather than having scheduled speakers, everyone pitches sessions the morning of the BarCamp. Those sessions are put on a schedule, and lots of little groups form for intense group learning. Everyone is expected to teach, to talk, to participate.”
Minton, who also attended the conference in 2007, gave a presentation on Website Coding Best Practices for Search Engine Optimization, during the morning’s first session. Other popular session topics included Twitter, Web services, and Social Networks.
Also in attendance was DesignHammer Graphic Designer Sheena Donnelly. For Donnelly “the best part of BarCampuRDU was the opportunity to meet with other web development professionals and exchange ideas about social media, web trends and ways to increase the quality of every user’s internet experience.”
Over two hundred and forty registered for the free, one-day conference, held at the Red Hat World Headquarters in Raleigh.

DesignHammer Sponsors Organic SEO Class
Raleigh, NC—The Asheville based marketing company Sidhe Communications, LLC and Durham based web site design firm DesignHammer Media Group, LLC will present the first in a series of organic search marketing classes. The class on writing for the web will take place on May 17th, 2008 at the Raleigh School of Communication Arts Digital Circus from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Sidhe Communications will concentrate the four-hour training on web site writing techniques and keyword analysis and placement. Attendees can work on existing projects and directly apply techniques taught by Sidhe Communications partners, Sarah Benoit and Elizabeth Kirwin.

The course is designed to be interactive. Participants will be asked to bring a list of 10-15 keywords with them, and if applicable, a website writing task to be completed.
The world of organic search marketing is not yet clearly defined by the tech community. The partners of Sidhe Communications are professional writers, with backgrounds in public relations, marketing, and teaching. They have been researching and executing organic search marketing strategies for over five years. DesignHammer Selected by Local Film Festival
DURHAM, NC — DesignHammer Media Group has been selected to produce the website for third annual Triangle Jewish Film Festival (TJFF). This will be the second year DesignHammer has worked with the Festival.
The Triangle Jewish Film Festival Committee (formerly the NC Jewish Film Festival Steering Committee) has presented films and cultural events to the Triangle Jewish community since 1999. The Festival is produced by the Durham-Chapel Hill and Raleigh-Cary Jewish Federations and takes place annually at the Cary Galaxy Cinema.
The next festival will be held at the Cary Galaxy Cinema on March 30, 2008. The initial update to the website is expected to be completed in early January.
